Museum heating + cooling / Corpus Christi, Texas
Corpus Christi art museum
The fresh-air setting says “#REF!” instead of a number.
The museum project replaces heating and cooling equipment. Contractors need to know which controls to buy and how to set up the equipment. Two examples show why the details matter.
Finding 01
Ten air-handling units have no usable minimum fresh-air value.
The equipment table should state the minimum amount of outside air for each unit. For ten Johnson Building units, that column reads “#REF!”, a spreadsheet error, instead of a number.
What the column needs
Air quantityMinimum outside air for each unit
What it contains
#REF!A spreadsheet error on ten rows
Why it matters
The team setting up and testing the ventilation needs those values. The designer needs to supply them before the equipment settings can be confirmed.
The question to ask
What minimum outside-air value should be used for each of the ten Johnson Building units?

What we know now: Question prepared. No designer response confirmed in the reviewed records.
Finding 02
The pumps have built-in speed controls, but separate controls are drawn too.
The pump table says all eight pumps include their own speed controller. The electrical diagram shows separate speed controllers for six pumps. Other electrical notes call for starter equipment on the remaining two.

Why it matters
The contractor needs to confirm which controls to buy and install. The answer affects equipment, wiring and installation work.
The question to ask
For each pump, should the contractor provide a built-in controller, a separate controller or a starter? Who supplies and installs it?

Document status
These findings describe the documents checked on October 25. No project-team answer, change order or cost saving is confirmed in this review. Later bid documents may answer these questions.
These examples are questions for the project team to check. They are not a design approval or a complete review of the project. Bidders should send questions only through the owner’s official question process.

Questions about this review
What drawing issues were found in Corpus Christi Art Museum HVAC bid RFB 7647?
Mebbian’s reviewer-led check found missing fresh-air values for ten units and different instructions for pump speed controls. The excerpts below identify the sheets and questions for the designer. These findings describe the documents checked on October 25, 2026.
What can an HVAC drawing review find?
It can reveal missing equipment settings and different instructions for the same equipment. Here, ten units had a spreadsheet error instead of a fresh-air value, and pump controls appeared as both built-in and separate equipment.
